Managing Your Online Reputation Shouldn’t Be About Semantics!

Clearly generative AI (all of AI right now, as it were) tends to get some bad rep. Although there’s a benefit to it from a research back-end standpoint. It certainly shouldn’t replace the operations that matter to us humans, and one thing’s for sure: it definitely doesn’t replace how online reputation management is done! Simply put — how we manage our business reputations shouldn’t be about semantics.

And clearly semantics is a big problem for generative AI

Here’s why:

Humans talk a certain way. And we understand how us humans talk a certain way. But generative AI? The tech still has a long way to go. It arguably has an indefinite amount of time before it can ever measure up to be anything close to how a human speaks and responds in kind. And that can be a big problem for generative AI as it continues to pull language from all over the Internet in an effort to learn about our brands.AI word by SanShow on DeviantArt

At one point, the adage was clearly that “content is king.” Nowadays, content’s still on the throne, but it now shares that chair with context! And without an NLP engine capable of pulling in the right semantics to fully comprehend what text is actually saying, it’s a fair assumption that the meanings of the stuff we write about online will get lost in translation!

For example, the free Kalicube Copywriting Analyzer Tool even leverages Google’s NLP engine through an API to come up with several levels of understanding of just one sentence. If not interpreted correctly, responses could have erroneous meanings or assumptions:

Amazon in the country of Brazil is lovely.

Seems cut and dry, right? Wrong. Generative AI may not know the difference between “Amazon” the company and “Amazon” the jungle! Chances are it’ll pull the most logical set of semantics AI already knows to then provide responses, reviews, comments and more — and it will never know it got it wrong.

Therefore, dealing with AI will be a challenge. But….

There is hope for online reputation management!

Website development has become more strategic as a result. Content’s now tied not only to sales and marketing messaging, but definitive context so unambiguous that even a monkey could fully understand it. Different spellings of things matter, too, plus dealing with synonyms, uppercase and lowercase versions of words.

Keep everything almost ridiculously accurate with your brand messaging, and you’re bound to minimize ambiguity with semantics AI can trip itself over from time to time. Still requires vigilance, you know?

But that’s a river (in the Amazon) we can help you cross!

You deserve to not waste your time dealing with how other entities either out in cyberspace or in a human mind can interpret your messaging. Sometimes it’s just unavoidable. And you can’t please everyone.

But we at Apello can certainly please you and your brand with online reputation management that never misinterprets you. Simply click below and get a free consultation!
